Meet Anne Voss

Behind Flour Tin Bakes

Hi there! I’m Anne. I’m a self-taught home baker who went from working as a biologist to spending a lot of time in the kitchen. For years, I weighed out chemicals in the lab during the day, then came home and measured flour and sugar on the weekends for whatever dessert I wanted to try next. It’s no surprise I fell in love with baking since it’s both a science and an art.

Growing Up in the Kitchen

My love for baking really began when I was a teenager watching cooking shows, but it grew in a new way once I got married. My mother-in-law is an incredible baker, and she inspired me to recreate the desserts my husband grew up with. Some turned out great while others were epic failures (peppermint popcorn, I haven’t forgotten you!). But every attempt made me love baking more.

Inspiration and Experiments

My inspiration comes from a mix of cherished family recipes and my own experiments in the kitchen. One of my favorite things to do is to take a classic family favorite and play with new flavor combinations to make it my own.

Testing for Success

My science background means that I do not just follow a recipe. I test every variable until I get it right. That way you can have the same success in your kitchen that I have in mine. When I am at my counter I am constantly perfecting the texture of a crumb or the snap of a cookie. I want you to feel completely confident every time you preheat your oven.

Sharing the Results

I am often asked if I sell my desserts or take custom orders. I do not sell desserts because I am currently focusing on sharing these recipes on my blog for you to make at home. The treats I bake are shared with my family and my neighbors. My goal is simple. I want to give you reliable and easy to follow recipes that you can trust for your own family and friends.
